About
6227 Ranch
6227 Ranch is a non profit that was designed to provide education to both people and horses. We provide seminars, clinics, and training to the public while also being a safe place for troubled horses to be surrendered, rehab, retrained, and adopted.

Meet The Crew
Check out some of our horses below and their story.

Mingo
Mingo, a 7-year-old horse, was gathered from the Granite Range HMA by the BLM. Despite initial advice from personnel cautioning against a young trainer adopting a freshly gelded horse, we were not deterred. As evident, Mingo now resides with us at 6227 Ranch.
Mingo underwent an extensive and gradual gentling process, in which he cultivated trust in the humans around him and discovered his purpose. His role at 6227 Ranch is to "Babysit Orphan Horses," where he imparts valuable lessons on "How to Horse" and fosters the development of "Good Horse Citizens" among the young equines in our care.

Big Mama
Big Mama joined us from Rocking Kt Equine Redemption in Reno, Nevada, and like any living creature, she brought with her a set of behavioral challenges due to the ever-changing environment she had experienced. From the start, we recognized that Big Mama came with baggage and was in need of assistance to learn how to be a "Good Horse Citizen."
From those initial challenges, Big Mama has been on a transformative journey, evolving into a large and gentle horse with a special emphasis on her connection with people. She has unmistakably declared her purpose – to contribute to education for people.
We are thrilled to witness Big Mama's ongoing success and growth here at 6227 Ranch. As she continues her journey, we, too, are dedicated to learning and growing alongside her

Ranger
We welcomed Ranger into our family when he was just 8 weeks old, adopting him from our partner at Wild Horse Connection. Being an orphan from the Virginia Range, the decision to remove him from the Range was made to ensure he received the necessary medical treatments for survival.
Under the guidance of Mingo, Ranger is now blossoming and learning the ropes of "How to Horse." He has become a standout participant in our seminars and clinics, demonstrating a genuine enjoyment of interacting with people. It's clear that a few good scratches can easily win his heart.
Anticipating Ranger's journey with excitement, we are confident that he will develop into a remarkable horse. We look forward to witnessing his growth and the positive impact he'll undoubtedly have on our community.

Mo
Mo Mustang, gathered from Devil's Garden at 11 years old, possesses a remarkable combination of kindness and a calming demeanor that complements his robust drafty build. Despite his tough past as a stud, Mo requires a respectful approach, acknowledging his resilience and experiences. While his training is complete, we decided, given his maturity, to discontinue his riding career as we believed it would be more fitting for this gentle giant.
Currently, Mo enjoys a fulfilling life in a spacious pasture, where he engages in social interactions with other horses, has a special companion, and relishes the company of his two favorite "Food Bearing Humans." Mo's role at 6227 Ranch extends beyond his own enjoyment – he has proven to be an invaluable teacher, imparting numerous lessons and wisdom as a leader among horses.

Cisco
Cisco, gathered when he was 7 years old, with a Fiery Red Roan attitude and a general poor disposition. Cisco and Josie first met at Daniel Yriarte’s Training Facility. Cisco was originally selected for a client of Dan’s, however, Cisco and his soon to be owner did not mesh. This allowed us the opportunity to adopt Cisco.
Cisco is everything we dream of when we think Mustang, proud and full of spirit with a touch of compassion, he did choose Josie.
Cisco is Josie’s very first Mustang and the catalyst for my journey into helping horses and people. Our non-profit “6227 Ranch” is our way to honor Cisco, as he continues to be the greatest teacher and partner. The name stems from Cisco's large hip brand 6227.

Honey Badger
This spirited little mare lives up to her name in every way. In a mix-up, we accidentally selected her for a TIP Challenge competition, thinking we were getting a tall, handsome gelding, only to receive a short, mangy bay mare.
Honey Badger has proven to be an unexpected delight, transforming into the best liberty horse at our ranch. She enthusiastically embraces her work, radiating a special charm despite her small stature. Her personality is what sets her apart and makes her so enjoyable to be around. Witnessing her daily enthusiasm, with her tongue hanging out, at the gate is a highlight that never fails to bring smiles.
While Honey Badger may be petite, her incredibly confident attitude and vibrant personality make her truly special. Her uplifting presence has a positive impact on everyone around her, making her a beloved member of our ranch community.
